Hundreds of residents are expected to gather for Love Irvine’s fifth annual Citywide Serve Day on Nov. 8. Last year, 650 volunteers took part in 28 service projects, from sorting food donations to making rice sock warmers for shelter animals.

Organizers anticipate at least 700 volunteers this year and hope to launch more than 35 projects, many of them kid-friendly. “Parents often tell us it’s hard to find service opportunities where kids can participate,” says Curtis Drever, president of Love Irvine. “This gives families a chance to give back together and teach children the value of serving others.”

The day begins with a 7:30 a.m. kickoff at Woodbridge Village Center. Volunteer opportunities are available at LoveIrvine.org. Nonprofits interested in hosting projects can contact info@loveirvine.org.
