A United Parcel Service driver was fatally shot while sitting in his truck in Irvine on Thursday, May 16.

The UPS driver, believed to be on-duty, was shot around 3 p.m. in an industrial area near Chrysler and Fleming, Irvine Police spokesperson Kyle Oldoerp said.

NBC Los Angeles reported that the driver was sitting in his truck, taking a break, when someone in a car pulled up and shot him multiple times. No packages were stolen, leading police to believe the driver was targeted.

The investigation is ongoing and police were reportedly searching for the shooter’s vehicle.
