The Summer Movie Clubhouse program and its $1.50 tickets return to Cinemark theaters in Orange, offering one inexpensive option to escape the summer heat.
The big screen program features family-friendly movies from Universal Pictures. It runs from June 15 through Aug. 3 at Century Stadium 25.
Movies play each Wednesday at 10 a.m. and cost $1.50 per ticket, plus tax (that’s for children and adults). Cinemark asks that children under the age of 11 be accompanied by an adult.
Movies showing include Angry Birds, DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby: Family Business, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Paw Patrol: The Movie, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, Scoob!, Illumination’s Sing 2 and Tom & Jerry on the big screen once again just for this special program.
Tickets go on sale Monday, May 16, at Cinemark.com or on the Cinemark app.

Free smoothie today for healthcare workers
If you’re a nurse or healthcare worker, Juice It Up! has a smoothie for you today.
The Newport Beach-based juice and acai bowl chain is celebrating National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week by giving healthcare workers a free classic smoothie of their choice (medium size) on May 9.
Customers need to show a valid medical ID to get the free smoothie. There’s a limit of one drink per customer. Add-ons will cost extra.

Golf fundraisers is Friday in Mission Viejo
Alzheimer’s Orange County in Irvine is hosting its eighth annual Golf Fore Alzheimer’s Tournament on Friday, May 13 at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo.
The goal this year is to raise $150,000, with the money supporting the nonprofit’s programs and services.
The tournament has both morning and afternoon tee times with breakfast or lunch, adult beverages, dinner, an auction, awards and entertainment.
The morning round will handle 48 total golfers at $1,000 per foursome or $250 per player. The afternoon round will accommodate up to 144 golfers at $1,200 per foursome or $300 per player.

Giving Day will go to local nonprofits
The Orange County Community Foundation is hosting Empowering Possibilities – an online Giving Day on Wednesday, May 11.
The nonprofit is looking to raise $150,000 for nonprofits that provide services to people with disabilities living in Orange County.
The participating organizations include Abilities OC, Beyond Blindness, Dayle McIntosh Center for the Disabled, Down Syndrome Association of Orange County, Family Support Network, Hope Center for the Arts, Project Independence, Reimagine, Special Olympics Southern California, Speech and Language Development Center, Tomorrow’s Leadership Collaborative Charter School (TLC), Unlimited Possibilities and Vocational Visions.

Kevin R. Webb has been promoted to senior director of corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability for the Americas Region at Cypress-based Mitsubishi Electric US. He will continue to direct the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation while tracking and reporting on the company’s environmental, social and governance progress. Webb also will work on helping the company achieve its sustainable objectives.
Anaheim-based Waev Inc. has hired Gerry Hoadley. He will lead a team helping ground support equipment customers electrify their fleets, starting with the fully electric, lithium-ion-powered Tiger tow tractors and Taylor-Dunn Bigfoot utility vehicles. Waev manufactures, distributes, markets and supports GEM and Taylor-Dunn brands, which produce low-speed vehicles and carts.

Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie Norris has named Marnie Baker of Irvine, Ginger Osborne of Laguna Beach, Bonnie Castrey of Huntington Beach, CeCe Sloan of Laguna Woods, Debora Wondercheck of Costa Mesa, and Judge Frances Muñoz of Newport Beach as 2022 Women of Distinction for the 74th Assembly District. The annual recognition ceremony is held in honor of Women’s History Month.
Seniors solution agency acquired
Anaheim-based Applied General Agency was acquired by Integrity Marketing Group. Applied General Agency helps senior citizens in California find Medicare solutions. As part of the acquisition, Patrick Rodriguez, president of AGA, will become a managing partner at Integrity. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
$64K raised to support KidsWorks’ college program
Santa Ana-based KidWorks raised $64,745 for KidWorks College Success Initiative at its pickleball tournament held at The Tennis Club at Newport Beach Country Club.
The tournament brought together 64 women April 1 who raised money for the nonprofit, which provides academic, development and leadership programs for children and teens in underserved communities.

$300K for veterans center
Rep. Lou Correa awarded $300,000 to the Tierney Center for Veteran Services in Tustin.
“This investment into the Tierney Center for Veteran Services enables us to further develop the center into a collaborative service center for veterans, an all-in-one resource to access the services they need and deserve,” said Nicole Suydam, President and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County, operator of the Tierney Center for Veteran Services.

Judicial appointments
Irvine resident Joanne Motoike, 54, has been nominated to serve as an associate justice of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Division Three. She has served as a judge at the Orange County Superior Court since 2013, serving as presiding judge of Juvenile Court from 2018 to 2022.
Brea resident Lindsey E. Martínez, 39, has been appointed to serve as a judge in the Orange County Superior Court. She has served as a senior attorney at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Division Three since 2016. She also was an associate at Snell & Wilmer LLP from 2010 to 2016.
