Comedian Zarna Garg will perform at Irvine Improv on June 26, 27 and 28. Known for her sharp wit and heartfelt humor, Garg has won over audiences with her Amazon Prime special “One in a Billion” and appearances on “The Tonight Show” and “This American Life.” We asked about her upcoming shows.

How does being an Indian American mom shape your comedy?
My audience likes to be criticized for their life choices. And I like to be paid to offer them that criticism, which is not how it was when I was a stay‑at‑home mom. So this is a win-win situation.

What pushed you to try stand-up after 16 years as a stay-at-home mom?
I finally lost all sense of shame.

What message do you hope viewers take away from your journey?
Anything ridiculous you did for years in private can become a ridiculous career. It’s never too late.

What can audiences expect from the show at Irvine Improv?
No one will be spared. For an extra fee, I’ll even haunt your relatives.

Is there anything you want to explore in Irvine?
This is my second time in Irvine. I’m a New Yorker. I mostly just gape at smiling faces in awe. Those are extinct where I come from.
