1. Hicks Canyon Trail
Ideal for families, Hicks Canyon Community Park offers plentiful shade – as well as playgrounds, restrooms and picnic spots – along a 4-mile out-and-back trail. It’s a great introduction to hiking for kids.

2. San Joaquin Wildlife Preserve
Located at 5 Riparian View, the preserve offers a meandering hike of 2.6 miles and is a great way to discover the benefits of hiking amid nature. Enjoy birdsong and peaceful ponds away from the urban bustle.

3. Quail Hill Loop
Just past the fire station on Shady Canyon Drive, you’ll find the entrance to the Quail Hill Loop. At slightly less than 2 miles, this mostly flat trail is ideal for beginners. Start with one lap and build up your mileage over time while taking in the views.
