Fresh off of receiving its star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday morning, three-time Grammy award-winning a capella group Pentatonix announced the North American leg of its world tour and it includes a stop at Irvine’s FivePoint Amphitheatre on Sep. 11.
Pentatonix formed in Arlington, Texas in 2011 and won the third season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” Since then, the group has performed everywhere from The White House to the Hollywood Bowl and released a dozen albums. Pentatonix won three Grammy awards including two in the best arrangement, instrumental or a cappella category in 2015 for “Daft Punk” and in 2016 for “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” They also picked up a trophy in the best country duo/group performance category for a duet with country legend Dolly Parton with “Jolene” in 2017.
Its most recent album, “Holidays Around the World,” came out on Oct. 28, 2022. The quintet also premiered “Pentatonix: Around the World for the Holidays,” in December, which streamed exclusively on Disney+.
