Efforts to make California cleaner and more sustainable were celebrated this week across the state, including with a community festival on Saturday, March 25, in Irvine.
Caltrans has been celebrating the state’s $1.2 billion Clean California initiative, which is focused on road and neighborhood beautification projects across California, including hiring more crews to maintain roadways, holding cleanup events and supporting public art pieces.
The initiative is also about getting the community more involved and in Irvine, Saturday’s festival featured presentations about sustainability and waste management along with the entertainment and games.
Clean California is also accepting adopt-a-highway applications, with up to $250 a month available to volunteers; has created several grant projects; and has job opportunities. Find out more at cleancalifornia.dot.ca.gov.
